We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Engineer II to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a central role in the design process, ensuring the layout of grading, street improvements, and underground facilities align with FEI design standards, agency processing requirements, and client expectations. As a Senior Engineer II, you will be responsible for performing complex design tasks, solving major design problems, and supervising and coaching junior team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design layout of grading, street improvements, and underground facilities within established standards, processing requirements, and client expectations.
  2. Ensure the quality of design by implementing new ideas, conducting plan reviews, and providing training to junior staff.
  3. Assist the team leader in client/agency interactions, striving to build lasting relationships and respect with clients.
  4. Attend meetings and conference calls as appropriate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop design concepts and standards under the direction of the Manager, coordinating with governmental agencies and acting as a design resource for team members.
  • Train and coach junior team members, contributing to their professional growth.
  • Prepare cost estimates, develop schedules, and coordinate the work of the design team with the Manager.
  • Prepare technical reports and calculations (hydrology, hydraulics, sewer capacity, earthwork, water demand, etc.).
  • Ensure work/design is of high quality, cost-effective, and meets agency standards.
  • Supervise Interns, Associate Engineers, Designers, and Engineers, providing assistance to maintain project schedules.
  • Serve as a design resource and leader for the team in the absence of the Manager.
  • Assist Manager with proposal, schedule, and "extras" preparation.
  • Initiate, implement, and promote new ideas and procedures.
  • Provide surveyors with staking plans and help resolve construction discrepancies.
  • Provide construction support and develop responses to RFI’s.
  • Provide complete information and criteria for the completion of work to subordinate team members.
  • Provide training opportunities contributing to team members’ professional development.
  • Determine plan or report format and complete necessary documentation for the design package.
  • Assist Manager in processing plans for approval.
  • Ensure punctuality and regular attendance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Train and coach junior members of the team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering or equivalent discipline from a four-year college or university.
  • Minimum four years of civil engineering design experience.
  • Minimum three years independently solving complex engineering problems within land development.
  • EIT certification is required.
  • PE license or commitment to obtaining PE license within two years of hire/promotion is required.
  • Well-developed problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D required.
