Responsibilities:

  • Apply engineering principles to design infrastructure for municipal, commercial, and residential projects.
  • Develop civil site drawings, including site plans, grading plans, utility plans, and drainage plans.
  • Compare design alternatives, considering limitations and costs.
  • Perform necessary calculations and develop specifications for construction drawing sets.
  • Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design programs to prepare engineering documents.
  • Prepare conceptual site layouts and review local ordinances.
  • Review local requirements for planning, zoning, and building permits.
  • Collect and complete permit documents.
  • Sign and seal drawings as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) designation in the state of Texas.
  • 5 or more years of previous experience in civil engineering design.
  • Proficiency in engineering principles, techniques, and procedures.
  • Experience with computer-design techniques.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and public agencies.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD-Civil 3D and most MS Office products.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Reliable and dependable.

Working Conditions:

  • Stationary position at a desk using a keyboard and mouse.
  • Communicating and exchanging information with clients, peers, and vendors via mobile devices or computers.
  • Moving through offices, buildings, construction sites, and other environments.
  • Positioning under, around, or over equipment and site utilities on occasion.
  • Driving in a vehicle and transit to project sites on occasion.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to hear.
